Novice to Blue Competition tremendous Success !
On July 10th Tonbridge Judo Club held its first Novice-Blue belt competition for young players from the club and the England Excel sessions and local schools which benefit from Chris Bowles coaching. Over 60 young players took part from 6 years upwards and weight groups ranged from U20 kilos to O63 kilos.
Everybody fought really well and fully deserved their medals which were presented by club members including World Masters Champion and club coach Dick Marcroft. We were also lucky to have two young qualifies referees in Ben Urban and James Draper who were both outstanding in their referring and sensitivity towards the young fighters. We also had young club members helping with time keeping and teas – it was a real team event!
All players received a medal with outstanding performances from Jem Major, Zoe Boulderstone (throw of the day), Bethany Roberts and Clayton Selway. We hope to have another of these later in the year so watch this space.
